One Night in Lima
Lima, the capital, and the largest city in Peru, is a fascinating place to visit. There are many beautiful and interesting sights to see during the daytime, but what about Lima by night? You may be surprised by the diversity of nightlife there.
As you would expect from a major city, Lima offers a wide choice of restaurants for all tastes. However, whilst in Lima, you might like to try some local dishes such as ceviche, a tasty fish dish marinated in lime or lemon juice.
Once your hunger is satisfied; Lima by night offers some great entertainment to pass the night away.
Casinos
In the last few years, Lima has become a popular tourist destination for gambling. There are now many international casinos, some of which also put on entertainment for their visitors. Many of these are open for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so any time that you feel like a gamble, you can be sure to find a casino open not far from you.
Traditional Music
Many people, perhaps, think that Peruvian music is all about pan pipes. Whilst there may be some truth in this, visiting Lima by night will show you a much more diverse selection of music and dance. Whilst there are traditional venues that focus on Peruvian folklore, as well as the music; there are also some venues, referred to as “”peñas”", which also provide Peruvian food and drink.
Night Clubs
Although much of Lima focuses on traditional Peruvian culture; there are many late night clubs and bars which will appeal to the younger generation. Here, you will hear hits and dance music from around the world.
Cinemas
Lima has several cinemas which screen films from all countries. These are often dubbed into Spanish and subtitled.
Dance
If you feel the need to dance the night away, Lima has several modern discotheques, although many of these are members only; however, many hotels offer this facility, allowing day pass memberships. Some of the most popular discotheques however, are situated on the southern beaches.
Whilst in Peru, it is important to remember that drinking is only allowed at the age of 18, or older; and smoking is forbidden in closed public venues.
