The Cascade Iguacu

The sheer beauty of nature cannot be more evident than at the awe-inspiring Iguazu falls that border Brazil and Argentina, near to where they converge with Paraquay. Cascada Iguacu, or Cascade Iguacu in English, are spectacular falls situated in the Parque Nacional Iguazú near Puerto Iguazú. This is slightly east of the confluence of the Iguazú and Paraná rivers. To witness the magnificence of nature, as over 176 000 cubic feet of ranging water plummets over into the 230 foot gorge below, is a sight to behold. The name comes from the local Guarani language, which simply means “big or great waters”. There are a staggering 275 cascades which stretch almost two miles. The huge amount of spray generated by these falls has led to dense forests overgrowing with palms, bamboo trees, ferns, begonias and wild orchids.
